On Tuesday, August 26, the Business Women’s Collective (BWC) gathered more than 40 women at Stiller Studio for an unforgettable evening of inspiration, empowerment, and connection. Proudly sponsored by Alcoa, the event Evening Edition: Women Who Lead, was a sold-out success that showcased the strength of women in leadership across our community.  We were inspired to hear from Alcoa representative Sarah Parsons, as she reflected on her personal & professional journey. Beyond her own story, Sarah outlined Alcoa’s broader dedication to women in the workforce, highlighting the company’s commitment to driving leadership from within and providing the resources necessary for women to thrive in their careers. As Sarah wrapped up her compelling speech & revealed this was her first, we were all shocked & delighted to support Sarah in this great milestone (you did an amazing job, Sarah!)

The evening opened with a keynote from Maree Gooch of Value Creators, who brought with her more than four decades of wisdom in entrepreneurship, governance, and strategic leadership. Maree’s candid reflections and practical advice resonated with everyone in the room, leaving guests motivated to take their next steps with confidence. One of Maree’s cardinal guideposts? Don’t be an a**hole.

The spotlight then shifted to the dynamic panel discussion featuring the Founders of the Business Women’s Collective: Kelly King, Kelly Winrow, Veronica Smith, Chloe Esakoff, and Sue Daley. Each sharing a bit of their personal journey, the people who have inspired them along the way, and what continues to fuel their dedication to the BWC mission. Not to mention some insight into what cocktail each co-founder would be if they had to choose one!

Beyond the stage, the atmosphere was buzzing as guests mingled over drinks and conversation, sparking new connections and reigniting old ones. The event also shone a spotlight on the importance of regional leadership and collaboration in driving sustainable growth across the Peel region.

The Business Women’s Collective extends heartfelt thanks to Alcoa for their ongoing support in championing women in leadership, and to the local community for embracing the BWC vision with such enthusiasm.

We’re also very grateful to AJ Harrington Photography for volunteering their time & talent to photographing this event.

“What an amazing night! The energy in the room was electric. It was so powerful having our own BWC co-founders on the panel, sharing their journey with a sold-out room. I’m so proud of our committee for making moments like this happen. This is exactly what it looks like when women lead and support each other, and it’s the perfect reminder of why the BWC exists: to create that essential space for women to connect, support, and grow together.”
